SEND SPECIALIST TEACHING ASSISTANT  

Permanent, part time (32.5 hours per week) 8.30am-3.30pm (Monday to Friday) term time only including inset days (with occasional additional hours for meetings until 4.30).

We require a specialist-teaching assistant to work 1:1, with small groups and alongside class teachers supporting children with SEND. To work alongside the SENCo in developing our SEND aware practice across the school. 

Venturers Trust is a new Multi Academy Trust based in Bristol formed through the merger of CGS Trust and Merchants’ Academy Trust in September 2017. Comprising Primary, Secondary, all-age schools and a Special school the Trust has 3,200 pupils and 700 staff.

Applications are invited from high quality candidates to join an exciting and committed team at Bannerman Road Community Academy. We are looking to recruit a specialist SEND TA who is genuinely inspired to work with children with SEND within a strong, supportive team, delivering high quality provision for the children within our care. You would support SLT/ SENDCo in devising school strategies to support children with SEND.  Support other TA’s in developing high quality SEND practice.

Previous experience of working with children with SEND is essential, as well as a willingness to support and advise colleagues as is flexibility and a sense of humour.  We strive to offer the highest level of education and trust that you will have equally high expectations. The successful candidate will have:

• GCSEs at Grade C or above in English and maths (or equivalent qualifications).

• Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification.

• Knowledge and experience working with SEND children and the strategies needed to support them

• Ability to support other staff and support delivery of CPD

• Commitment to continuing personal and professional development.

• Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes and barriers to learning

• Emotional resilience and a proactive can do attitude

• Experience and willingness to work across key stages 1 and 2.
